Full still life photoshoot

For our still life photo shoot, we were advised to take multiple photos, just so we had more variety when it came to choosing a final one. In this post, I am going to show the two other images that I took and explain why I didn’t choose them as my final still life photograph. They all had a similar theme, still objects surrounded by fairy lights, with a pastel like pink background. One thing to note is that all of my still life images were taken into Lightroom, where I did things such as clear up some of the haze and increase the sharpness of my images, all around tweaking them to make them look a little cleaner. Here is the first of the two:

There are a few reasons that I did not choose this image as my final piece. Firstly, there’s the fact that this image is far too typical and screams ‘student’. It conveys the simple message that all students spend a lot of their spare time indulging in alcohol, which is a message that has been seen many times before. I wanted to avoid doing something that a lot of people would have chosen to do. Another reason I didn’t choose this image is that it looks quite disorganized and rushed compared to my other two.

This is only one of my other two images. The second one I am going to show is taken in a landscape perspective instead of a portrait one. Here is the mentioned image:

This was very close to being my final image, however, I eventually decided against it. The first thing that put me off, was how I shot it in landscape instead of shooting it in portrait, as previously mentioned. Aside from that, I actually really like this image, but just deemed my final one a lot better, which you can find on my homepage.
